For as long as I can remember, I have seen things differently. I see shapes... the fullness of a figure, the rhythm of form in people and in nature. It’s what I see first: a stylization of reality. I plant a seed for an image and it starts to grow, I turn it over and over in my mind seeing it clearly before I begin to sketch or paint. Some of my paintings even come to me in dreams. Instinctively, I paint the forms I see in vibrant hues because to me, life is ripe, it’s rich, alive.

A proud native to San Jose, I have been creating paintings and murals for over 20 years. I received my MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and returned years later when asked to teach illustration in their undergraduate and graduate departments. Although I enjoyed teaching, I wanted to maintain focus on freelance work for my business, Three Moons Studio.

Over the years my commercial paintings have graced numerous products for companies like: Orange Coast Magazine, the San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times, Natural Wonders, Piatti Restaurants, Bell Sports, USA Weekly and board games for University Games. My studio work has also included large sized commercial pieces for Starbucks, Kaiser Permanente Hospitals and clinics. I also regularly paint private commissions for requesting individuals.

I have created chalk murals for 12 years. I’ve been commissioned to create street murals in many cities, such as Santa Barbara, Mission Viejo, San Diego, Tahoe, San Jose and San Rafael. I have also competed in the original International Street Mural Competition near Mantova, Italy and won a medal in their Simpleci category. (The only American to win a medal that year.)
Additional mural honors include: 2004, People’s Choice winner
and 2007, Grand Prize winner - Santana Row competition.
In 2008, I was a featured artist for the second time
at the San Rafael chalk art festival.

In addition to running my freelance studio, I am the Senior Creative Manager of Illustration for Yahoo! Inc. and create icons and illustrations viewed by millions of users every day.
